ETH Core Contributor Reveals Inside Story of Tomasz's Resignation: Long-Standing Power Struggles Within the Ethereum Foundation
Odaily News Ethereum consensus layer core contributor Greg posted on the X platform, disclosing the inside story behind the resignation of Ethereum Foundation Executive Director Tomasz Stańczak. He stated that he was not surprised by this event, as long-standing power struggles have existed within the Ethereum Foundation. The organizational inertia of "this is how the Ethereum Foundation operates" has made reforms difficult to implement. Over the past year, key figure Vitalik Buterin has been absent for most of the time, leading to issues such as inefficient resource allocation and stalled projects within the Foundation.
The internal reforms promoted by Tomasz Stańczak were not widely accepted, which may have led to his departure. In reality, he possesses deep industry experience, including backgrounds at Nethermind, Flashbots, and in venture capital. Although potential conflicts of interest were disclosed in advance, some community members still had doubts. Furthermore, Tomasz Stańczak genuinely wished to return to technical development, but likely encountered resistance while pushing for reforms at the Ethereum Foundation, forcing him to leave. In the future, there is a need to introduce leadership with genuine commercial experience and decision-making power to drive effective organizational operations.
