Trump says if US-Iran negotiations fail, may send another carrier strike group to the Middle East

According to the AXIOS website, Trump stated in an interview on Tuesday that if negotiations with Iran fail, he is considering sending another carrier strike group to the Middle East in preparation for potential military action. The US and Iran resumed talks in Oman last Friday, marking the first time both sides have returned to the negotiating table since last June. However, simultaneously, Trump is advancing a large-scale military buildup in the Gulf region. Trump said he expects the second round of US-Iran talks to take place next week. He stated, "We have one fleet heading to the region, and another might also set out." A US official confirmed that discussions have indeed taken place regarding deploying a second carrier strike group to the area. However, Trump also expressed optimism about the diplomatic path, saying Iran is "very eager to reach a deal" and, under military pressure, is taking the negotiations more seriously than ever before. "Last time, they didn't believe I would actually take action; they misjudged the situation. This round of negotiations is very different."
