Hyperliquid Confirms Introduction of "Outcome Contracts" to Build Prediction Markets and Option-like Derivatives

2026-02-03 02:07

Odaily News Hyperliquid announced via X that it will introduce "Outcome Contract" trading in HIP-4. An Outcome Contract is a fully collateralized contract that settles within a pre-defined range. It is a versatile foundational primitive suitable for application scenarios such as prediction markets and range-restricted option-like instruments. There is already significant user demand for these two types of applications, and developers are likely to conceive many more novel use cases based on this primitive.

Outcome Contracts introduce a non-linear payoff structure, contracts with expiration, and an alternative form of derivative trading that does not involve leverage or liquidation mechanisms. This primitive expands the expressive capabilities of HyperCore and can be combined with other primitives (such as portfolio margin mechanisms and HyperEVM).

Outcome Contracts are currently still in the development stage and are only being tested on the testnet at this phase. Once technical development is complete, standardized (Canonical) markets based on objective settlement sources will be deployed, and these standardized markets will be denominated in USDH. After gathering user feedback, the related infrastructure will be further expanded to a permissionless deployment model.
