Vitalik Explores Creator Token Design Ideas
Odaily News Vitalik Buterin posted on platform X to discuss design ideas for creator coins, pointing out that the crypto industry's overall effectiveness in content incentivization over the past decade has been limited. The core issue is not a lack of content supply, but rather insufficient mechanisms for filtering and discovering high-quality content. In the current context where AI can generate vast amounts of content at low cost, the industry's goal should shift from "incentivizing more content" to "identifying and amplifying high-quality content."
Vitalik believes Substack is a relatively successful current case of creator incentivization, with its key being the platform's proactive selection and support of quality creators, rather than relying solely on mechanism design. He points out that existing creator token projects commonly suffer from the structural problem of "users with high social influence dominating the rankings," rather than truly reflecting content quality.
At the solution level, Vitalik proposes establishing a non-tokenized creator DAO, where members vote to select creators, maintaining clear content positioning and scale control to build a stable brand and commercial bargaining power. Simultaneously, creators are allowed to issue personal tokens. If a creator joins the creator DAO, the DAO's revenue can be used to repurchase and burn the creator's tokens, transforming the role of speculators into "predictors of quality creators," thereby reducing pure speculative cycles and improving the efficiency of filtering high-quality content. Vitalik stated that future effective governance mechanisms may increasingly combine prediction markets and multi-party governance structures to enhance the system's resistance to manipulation and goal alignment.
