Vitalik: Open-Source Wallets and Contract Reading Features Can Enhance User Experience for Multi-Signature Wallet Address Viewing
Odaily News Vitalik posted on the X platform, stating that this morning, without the Safe app installed on his mobile device, he needed to confirm the signer addresses for a multi-signature wallet. He obtained the required information by looking up the address on Etherscan and using the "Read Contract" feature directly. If wallets or applications remain open-source and can pass the "walkaway test," users will have a better experience. In common scenarios where the Safe official website cannot be used directly, providing users with alternative solutions can be helpful. Due to privacy protection needs, such workflows may ultimately change—an equivalent privacy-friendly solution is for users to save a "viewing key" containing additional private information. Block explorers could support this feature by placing the private information in the fragment part of the URL, keeping it on the client side. However, considering the risks of users pasting keys in URLs or web pages, ultimately more operations still need to be completed directly through the wallet.
