OpenAI Announces Data Center Energy Cost Control Plan

The "Stargate" project is a multi-year plan costing $500 billion, designed to build AI data centers for training and inference, and has received support from major investors including Oracle. As energy access becomes a key constraint on AI development, several tech companies are directly investing in power infrastructure to support larger and more numerous data centers. OpenAI stated that each "Stargate" site will have a tailored community plan, "which will be guided by community input and local needs."
