Man Accused of Stealing Over $11 Million in XRP Countersues Widow of Country Music Legend George Jones

2026-01-14 02:53

Odaily News A Tennessee man, Kirk West, accused of stealing over $11 million worth of XRP from Nancy Jones, the widow of country music legend George Jones, has recently filed a countersuit against her.

West was previously arrested on charges of stealing approximately $400,000 in cash and over 5.5 million XRP tokens. In his countersuit, West denies the theft allegations, claiming the related crypto assets were accumulated through "successful investments" during their relationship and that he is legally entitled to a portion of the assets. He also accuses Nancy Jones of fraud and defamation against him.

Public documents indicate the two met and developed a romantic relationship after George Jones passed away in 2013. West, who describes himself as a "crypto expert," had advised Jones to allocate assets into various cryptocurrencies including XRP, ETH, DOGE, SHIB, and XLM. Jones alleges that after being evicted from her residence, West took a hardware wallet containing private keys without permission, leading to the disappearance of some crypto assets.

To date, Jones has recovered approximately 5 million XRP, but around 483,000 XRP remain missing. In his latest countersuit, West is demanding a division of assets including crypto holdings, approximately $5 million worth of precious metals, and $1 million in cash. The case remains under further investigation. (Decrypt)
