Tether Freezes 182 Million USDT Across 5 Addresses on Tron Network

Odaily News According to Whale Alert monitoring, Tether froze 5 independent addresses on the Tron network on January 11, totaling 182 million USDT. The holdings of the affected addresses ranged between 12 million and 50 million USDT. This action is in line with the wallet suspension protocol launched by Tether in December 2023, aimed at complying with the sanction requirements of the U.S. Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). As of mid-2025, Tether has cumulatively frozen over $3 billion worth of USDT and has collaborated with more than 310 law enforcement agencies across 62 countries. Data from AMLBot shows that since 2023, the total amount frozen by Tether is approximately 30 times that of Circle. Currently, the circulating supply of USDT exceeds $187 billion, holding about 64% of the market share.
