German Foreign Minister: Europe Hopes to Reach Compromise with the US on Greenland
Odaily News German Foreign Minister John Wadefull expressed optimism that Europe can reach a "compromise" with the United States on the issue of Greenland. After meeting with US Secretary of State Rubio in Washington on Monday, Wadefull stated that he hopes the US can participate in a new NATO mission in the Arctic region to help ensure the security of Greenland. Wadefull said: "NATO is currently beginning to formulate specific plans, which will be discussed with our American partners. We have not been able to complete this step today, but all parties are prepared to carry out this work within the NATO framework. Germany will also strive to contribute to this." Wadefull also discussed the ongoing negotiations between the US, Europe, and Ukraine with Rubio. Germany has clearly expressed its willingness to support a military mission as part of security guarantees.
