21,000 BTC and 126,000 ETH Options Expire Today, with a Notional Value of Approximately $2.3 Billion
Odaily News: Adam, a macro researcher at Greeks.live, posted on X platform that today, 21,000 BTC options expired with a Put Call Ratio of 1.07, a max pain point of $90,000, and a notional value of $1.9 billion; 126,000 ETH options expired with a Put Call Ratio of 0.88, a max pain point of $3,100, and a notional value of $390 million. Nearly $2.4 billion worth of options expire this week, accounting for 7% of the total open interest. BTC's implied volatility remains flat compared to pre-Christmas levels, with the average IV for major tenors around 40%; ETH's major tenor IV has dropped to 55%. Block trades accounted for over 70% of today's total volume, reaching the highest level in recent months. The market is primarily positioning in BTC end-of-month call options and ETH end-of-month put options.
