Jito Launches IBRL Explorer to Quantify Solana Validator Block Building Behavior

2026-01-06 03:12

Odaily News Jito introduced its new tool, IBRL Explorer, on platform X, aiming to enhance the observability of the Solana block building process. Jito stated that while analyzing block data, the team discovered that some validators exhibit "Late Packing" behavior, where transactions are concentrated and packed at the end of a slot. Jito pointed out that this behavior can lead to slower state transitions, increased end-to-end latency, and reduced network determinism and application stability.

To address this, IBRL Explorer introduces the IBRL score to quantify a validator's block building performance. This score is based on metrics such as slot time score, vote packing score, and non-vote packing score. Among these, the slot time score gives higher ratings to behaviors that complete block building within specific time thresholds. Jito also mentioned that during internal use, the tool has been employed to identify issues including late packing phenomena occurring in Tokyo multi-data centers and the cascading effects caused by delayed packing of non-vote transactions. Jito further clarified that the IBRL score is calculated based on observable behaviors and does not encompass all factors that might affect slot time and transaction distribution. The results may also be influenced by variables such as infrastructure and network conditions.
