Vitalik Buterin: Ethereum Aims to Liberate Users Through Resilience and Sovereignty
Odaily News Vitalik Buterin posted on the X platform, stating that Ethereum's original purpose was not to enhance financial efficiency or application convenience, but to liberate users. Vitalik Buterin (vitalik.eth) pointed out that while efficiency and convenience have value, Ethereum's core competitiveness lies in resilience. Resilience is not about pursuing higher returns, but about minimizing the risk of 100% asset loss, ensuring the network remains stable and operational even under extreme circumstances such as developers disappearing, platform bans, or network warfare.
Vitalik Buterin emphasized that resilience is sovereignty, aiming to reduce vulnerability to external dependencies and make users equal participants rather than corporate appendages. The DNA of Web2 technology is not suited for building resilient systems, and the resilience of the financial industry is too one-sided. Ethereum's primary task is to provide decentralized, permissionless, and resilient block space, and on this basis, achieve space sufficiency.
