Delphi Digital: GameFi funding is projected to decline by over 55% year-over-year in 2025.
According to an article published on the X platform by Delphi Digital, the GameFi industry performed poorly in 2025, with funding declining by more than 55% year-on-year. The most anticipated product launches underperformed, and market enthusiasm remained low. Web 2.5 games are quietly emerging; these games treat blockchain as pure infrastructure, typically do not issue tokens, and compete based on actual revenue. Studios such as Fumb Games, Mythical Games, and Wemade/Wemix are leveraging blockchain technology to improve profit margins and enhance engagement, consistently generating substantial revenue. Web3 native games generated six- to seven-figure revenues this year, but their player base is small and bot-heavy, and user churn is severe once incentive mechanisms disappear. Web 2.5 studios can currently utilize the advantages of blockchain without forcing users to speculate. The widespread adoption of stablecoins will accelerate this trend, making small transactions, global payment channels, and engagement-based reward mechanisms more convenient.
