Brazilian police have busted a Bitcoin robbery, arresting eight suspects and one remaining at large.

According to Odaily, police in São Paulo, Brazil, have successfully arrested eight suspects in a large-scale operation codenamed "Operation Cryptonita," with one person still at large. The investigation revealed that the victim disclosed his Bitcoin investments to a worker during office renovations, and was subsequently robbed by an armed gang in November 2024.

Within about an hour, the criminal gang forced the victim to transfer approximately $54,000 worth of Bitcoin and stole a truck, cell phones, and laptops worth $36,200. Police traced the digital transactions and discovered that the suspects had created shell companies to launder money; most of the suspects had prior criminal records and ties to the construction industry.
