The Kingdom of Bhutan has pledged 10,000 bitcoins to develop "Mindfulness City".
Odaily Planet Daily reports that the Kingdom of Bhutan has announced it will use 10,000 Bitcoins (approximately $875 million) from its Bitcoin reserves to build the Grep Mindfulness City (GMC). It is estimated that Bhutan currently holds approximately 11,286 Bitcoins, worth over $986 million, making it the fifth-largest Bitcoin holder globally. This special administrative region in southern Bhutan, launching in 2024, covers approximately 1,544 square miles (about 10% of Bhutan's land area) and aims to attract businesses in finance, technology, tourism, and other sectors, create high-value jobs, and prevent the outflow of young talent. The project will be built in phases over the next 20 years and has already launched TER, a sovereign digital token pegged to gold. (Cointelegraph)
