According to Odaily Planet Daily, a family living in British Columbia, Canada, suffered a home invasion robbery in April 2024. Four masked robbers posing as mail carriers entered the family's home, subjected the parents to waterboarding and beatings, and forced their 18-year-old daughter to pose nude. The 13-hour ordeal resulted in the family losing $1.6 million worth of Bitcoin.

A suspect from Hong Kong has been sentenced to seven years in prison for his involvement in the case. He revealed that he was hired for a reward of CAD 50,000. Three other suspects remain at large. Police warn that similar cases are likely to continue as cryptocurrency investors become targets of organized crime. (ibtimes)
