Hassett confirmed that the October jobs report will be released, but it will not include unemployment data.
Odaily Planet Daily reports that White House National Economic Council Director Hassett stated that the October jobs report will not include an unemployment rate reading. Hassett said, "The household survey wasn't conducted in October, so we'll only have half the jobs report. We'll get the employment data, but not the unemployment rate, and this will only last for one month." The U.S. non-farm payrolls report consists of two surveys—one for businesses (which generates the majority of non-farm payrolls) and the other for households (which accounts for the unemployment rate). While many businesses keep records and report data electronically, retrospectively contacting workers and asking them to recall their employment status for a specific week in October will be more difficult.
