According to the latest announcement from the Norwegian Tax Administration, over 73,000 individuals reported holding cryptocurrency in 2024, totaling over $4 billion, a year-on-year increase of approximately 30%. Nina Schanke Funnemark, Director of Tax at the Tax Administration, stated that measures implemented in recent years have proven effective, with more people complying with regulations to ensure tax compliance. Data shows that approximately $550 million of these reported assets represented gains, while $290 million represented losses. Norway plans to require exchanges and custodians to report their cryptocurrency holdings through third parties starting in 2026.
