According to Odaily Planet Daily, Cobo co-founder Shenyu announced that US law enforcement has obtained the private keys to 120,000 Bitcoins mysteriously transferred in 2020, currently valued at approximately $15 billion. It was revealed that the law enforcement agencies did not obtain the private keys through cracking or intrusion, but rather discovered a randomness flaw in the keys' generation. According to incomplete statistics, over 220,000 addresses are affected by the vulnerability, a full list of which has been made public. The private keys of these wallets are generated by a flawed pseudo-random number generator (PRNG). Because the PRNG uses a fixed offset and pattern, the private keys are more predictable. Users are still transferring funds to the affected addresses, indicating that the vulnerability risk has not been completely eliminated.
