Bitcoin's BRC20 protocol upgrades to "BRC2.0," enabling EVM-style smart contracts

According to Odaily Planet Daily, the Bitcoin token protocol BRC20 completed an upgrade at block 912,690, integrating the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), a significant step toward supporting Ethereum-style smart contracts. The upgrade, dubbed "BRC 2.0," was jointly implemented by Ordinals developer Best in Slot and BRC20 creator Domo. Best in Slot CEO Eril Binari Ezerel stated that this move makes BRC20 Turing-complete. Domo stated its goal was to combine the decentralized security of Bitcoin with the composability and programmability of the EVM. (CoinDesk)
