Last week, Trump said he would impose a 50% tariff on EU imports from June 1. Earlier, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Sunday after a call with Trump that the EU is ready to "quickly and decisively" advance trade negotiations with the United States, but needs Trump to return to the 90-day negotiation period he originally set.
After Trump changed his mind again, Bitcoin rebounded and briefly broke through $109,000, and is now quoted at $108,840.
Earlier on May 23, Trump said, "The main purpose of the establishment of the European Union is to take advantage of the United States in trade. The negotiations between the United States and them have made no progress. It is recommended to impose a 50% tariff directly on EU products from June 1, 2025." This remark once caused U.S. stocks and Bitcoin to fall.
