Odaily News Bill Gates, founder of Microsoft, announced on the 8th that he would donate most of his personal wealth to the Gates Foundation and set a goal of more than $200 billion in charitable spending before the foundation ceases operations in 2045 to support people in need around the world. He said that it is expected that the Gates Foundation's charitable spending will exceed $200 billion from now to 2045, including the size of the foundation's existing endowment fund and his future donations. According to a statement released by the Gates Foundation, the foundation's overall strategy for the next 20 years will remain unchanged. It will work closely with partners to do its utmost to promote three core goals, namely, to help end maternal and infant deaths from preventable diseases; to ensure that the next generation is no longer threatened by deadly infectious diseases; and to help hundreds of millions of people escape poverty and embark on the road to prosperity.
