Odaily News Binance founder CZ confirmed in his latest podcast that his legal team has submitted a pardon application to former US President Trump on his behalf. Previously, Bloomberg and the Wall Street Journal reported that CZ was seeking a pardon, but he denied it at the time. CZ said that part of the reason for applying for a pardon was inspired by Trump's previous pardon of the founder of BitMEX.
Last November, CZ pleaded guilty to violating the Bank Secrecy Act, paid a $50 million fine and was sentenced to four months in prison. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, even if he is granted amnesty, it will not eliminate his money laundering charges, but may allow him to resume his management position at Binance.US.
