Odaily News Mayer Mizrachi, mayor of Panama City, Panama's capital, posted on the X platform that the Panama City Council has voted to pass a proposal to allow government public institutions to accept cryptocurrency payments, including taxes, fines, tickets and license fees. The first batch of supported currencies include BTC, ETH, USDC and USDT. The program does not require the passage of new legislation, but instead cooperates with banks to convert crypto payments into US dollars to meet the legal collection requirements of public institutions.
