Odaily News Coinbase Chief Legal Officer Paul Grewal criticized the U.S. Treasury Department for trying to circumvent a legal ruling on Tornado Cash by removing it from its global blacklist, warning that without a final court ruling, there is no guarantee that Tornado Cash will not be sanctioned again in the future. It is reported that the U.S. Treasury Department blacklisted Tornado Cash in 2022 because of its suspected involvement in the laundering of $445 million stolen by the Lazarus cybercrime group, but the appeals court ruled that the blacklisting of certain smart contracts was unconstitutional.
