Odaily News Wang Shuiming, a native of Anxi, Fujian, who was arrested in connection with the largest money laundering case in Singapore, has been arrested in Montenegro and will be extradited back to China. Wang Shuimings partner Su Weiyi was confirmed to be the mastermind behind the Hong Kong cryptocurrency platform scam Atom Asset Exchange. In November 2022, Atom Asset Exchange suddenly failed to withdraw cash and then went bankrupt. Su Weiyi ran away with HK$16.74 million (approximately RMB 15.675 million). In July 2024, Su Weiyi was arrested by the Hong Kong police. It is worth mentioning that Su Weiyi co-owns other companies with other partners who are related to Alice Guo, a convicted former mayor of Chinese Filipino descent.
On August 15, 2023, more than 400 Singapore police officers launched a raid and cracked the largest money laundering case in Singapores history, involving 3 billion Singapore dollars (about 16 billion yuan). The Singapore police arrested 10 suspects on the spot. The suspects are between 31 and 44 years old and are originally from Fujian. They are called the Fujian Gang by the outside world. They hold passports of many countries and use forged documents, shell companies and cryptocurrencies to launder the funds obtained from illegal gambling and fraud in Southeast Asia and invest in high-end assets in Singapore and overseas.
According to the investigation results of the Singapore police, Wang Shuiming also has huge assets outside of Singapore. In China, Wang Shuimings company has an investment of up to 32 million yuan; and owns a factory worth millions of yuan; he owns two apartments in Xiamen with a total value of 20 million yuan; Wang Shuiming has a bank account in Hong Kong with a deposit of 2 million Hong Kong dollars and cryptocurrencies worth 110,000 US dollars.
