Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission CEO: Crypto Regulatory Roadmap to be released today, focusing on protecting investors and covering different participants
Odaily News Julia Leung, CEO of the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), said at Consensus Hong Kong 2025 that the U.S. SEC has made rapid progress in the field of crypto regulation, and Hong Kong is also actively thinking about its position in the crypto wave.
Crypto regulations in other regions cannot be adapted to Hong Kong. Starting from 2023, Hong Kong has established a licensing system to regulate the development of trading platforms in Hong Kong. In addition, financial service roles such as banks and brokers also adopt a licensing system. Crypto asset custody and OTC, as well as the issuance of crypto financial products, are all subject to supervision.
This afternoon, the SFC will release a regulatory roadmap that focuses on protecting investors, covers different participants in the ecosystem, and is consistent, which will make corporate compliance clearer.
