EU finance ministers to discuss tokenization, wholesale DLT settlements and more
Odaily News Tokenization, distributed ledger technology (DLT) and central bank money for wholesale settlements, as well as the status of a retail digital euro, will be discussed at next Monday’s Eurogroup meeting. The Eurogroup is an informal body of economic and finance ministers that meets to discuss issues related to the euro.
Hyun Song Shin, economic counselor and head of the monetary and economic department at the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), will participate in the discussion. He is involved in the Agorá project, which aims to combine tokenization and wholesale CBDC to speed up cross-border payments using correspondent banks, involving 41 institutions and 7 central banks, including the Bank of France as a representative of the European Union.
