Odaily News Regarding Trump's issuance of the Meme coin TRUMP, Danielle Brian, executive director of the nonpartisan Project on Government Oversight, said that Meme coins are usually not related to any underlying business, so they are highly speculative for investors and can bring huge profits to founders, which further breaks the boundaries.
“Any move by the Trump Organization to demonstrate that they are concerned about potential conflicts, particularly those involving foreign governments, seems to completely undermine its efforts,” Brian said.
Other groups raising concerns include the nonprofit Campaign Legal Center and Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, which unsuccessfully sued Trump during his first term for violating the Constitution’s ban on foreign gifts and compensation.
Kedric Payne, general counsel at the Campaign Legal Center, said: “The clear difference with cryptocurrencies is how quickly you can get your windfall.” (Bloomberg)
