Foreign media: US artificial intelligence company Perplexity AI seeks to merge with TikTok in the US

Odaily News On Saturday, Perplexity AI officially launched its acquisition of TikTok and submitted an acquisition offer to its parent company ByteDance, intending to merge Perplexity, TikTok's US business and new capital partners into a new entity.
The new structure will allow most of ByteDance’s existing investors to retain their equity stakes and will bring more videos to Perplexity, a person familiar with the matter said.
Perplexity AI is an AI search engine startup that competes with OpenAI and Google. In the context of the booming development of artificial intelligence, it has attracted more and more investors' interest. The company is valued at about $500 million at the beginning of 2024 and about $9 billion at the end of the year. (CNBC)
