Nigerian Bitcoin Advocate Files Lawsuit Against Government Crypto Restrictions

2024-08-11 07:51
Odaily News Nigerian Bitcoin supporter James Utudor filed a lawsuit against the government for restricting the ownership, use and trading of digital assets, demanding the lifting of the blockade on cryptocurrency exchanges and ensuring that Nigerians have unrestricted access. Utudor said the move is aimed at protecting the basic rights of Nigerians because cryptocurrencies are an important tool for fighting inflation and conducting international transactions. The lawsuit also requires the court to confirm the rights of Bitcoin and USDT holders and to recognize Bitcoin as a commodity. Institutions such as the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Securities and Exchange Commission were also listed as defendants. (bitcoin.news)
