US man sentenced for cryptocurrency theft

Odaily News A federal jury in the United States has convicted Remy St. Felix, 24, of West Palm Beach, Florida, of leading multiple violent home invasions with the intent to steal victims’ cryptocurrency. St. Felix faces nine charges, including conspiracy, kidnapping, Hobbs Act robbery, wire fraud, and brandishing a firearm to assist in the commission of crimes targeting cryptocurrency. Between December 2022 and July 2023, the criminal gang used violence, kidnapping, and threats to intimidate victims into obtaining and transferring their cryptocurrency assets to the criminals. One notable incident occurred on April 12, 2023, when St. Felix and his accomplice, Elmer Ruben Castro, forced their way into a home, zip-tied the victims, and demanded to see their crypto accounts.
