Odaily News Lawyers for former FTX executive Ryan Salame, who pleaded guilty to election fraud charges last September, asked the court for leniency and sentenced him to 18 months in prison, according to a sentencing memorandum filed on Tuesday. While at FTX and Alameda, Salame managed wire deposits and fiat currency exchanges for FTX clients, used Alameda funds to make political donations, and led charitable events in the Bahamas. In documents filed with the court, his lawyers argued that Salame's role in the shuttered company was less central to the fraud and more operational. They also cited cooperation with authorities, sincere remorse, efforts to address his substance abuse problems, and the significant personal and financial losses the exchange's collapse caused him.
