Odaily News: Ethereum scaling company Polygon tweeted on Thursday that the developers of zkSync rollup, Matter Labs, have copied some of Polygon's open-source code without providing attribution. Matter Labs has denied these allegations, stating that one of the relevant files in question clearly indicates the source. A spokesperson for Matter Labs stated that Polygon's article contains "untruthful claims" about their new Boojum high-performance proof system utilizing 5% of Plonky2, which is clearly indicated in the first line of our module.
In a screenshot of a Matter Labs file named "mod.rs," Polygon claims that the file does not mention the original author. Matter Labs CEO Alex Gluchowski linked to the same file in a tweet. The first line of the mod.rs file (not included in Polygon's screenshot) reads, "Note: We use the Plonky2 implementation as a baseline for non-vectorized fields."
Louis Guthmann, the head of the Starkware ecosystem, expressed disappointment in Matter Labs, stating, "These allegations are very serious. Respecting licenses, and more importantly, honest and clear attribution, are the soul of open-source." (CoinDesk)
