Odaily reported that U.S. President Trump said today's strike on Iran "hit them hard."
Trump stated that a deal with Iran "may not happen, but it could also happen at any time. I believe they are more eager to reach a deal than we are." He also indicated that despite the strikes, the ceasefire agreement remains in effect. Trump said, "That's right. They tried to trick us today. We hit back hard. They tried to trick us again. I call this behavior 'small tricks.'"
Trump also warned, "Negotiations were going very smoothly, but they must understand that if a deal is not signed, they will suffer tremendous pain." (Jinshi)

Odaily Odaily News: The U.S. Central Command stated that on May 7, when a U.S. Navy guided-missile destroyer was transiting the Strait of Hormuz towards the Gulf of Oman, U.S. forces intercepted an unprovoked attack by Iran and conducted self-defense strikes. As the destroyers USS Truxtun, USS Rafael Peralta, and USS Mason passed through this international waterway, Iranian forces launched multiple missiles, drones, and dispatched several small boats. The attack resulted in no damage to U.S. assets.
The U.S. Central Command neutralized the incoming threats and struck the Iranian military facilities responsible for the attack on U.S. forces, including missile and drone launch sites, command and control centers, as well as intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance nodes. The Central Command has no intention of escalating the situation but remains postured and ready to protect U.S. forces. (Jin Shi)

Odaily Planet Daily News According to Fox News reporters, a senior US official stated that the United States launched military strikes on Iran's Bandar-e Genaveh and Bandar Abbas ports earlier (early morning of the 8th, Beijing time), but added that this does not signify a resurgence of war or the termination of the ceasefire agreement. This attack on Iran's oil ports occurred two days after Iran fired 15 ballistic and cruise missiles at the UAE's Port of Fujairah. Earlier, senior Pentagon officials said on Tuesday that Iran's strikes did not constitute a violation of the ceasefire agreement, describing them as "low-intensity attacks."
