In addition to the "Four Heavenly Kings", these two L2 innovation projects are also worthy of attention

Since the launch of the ARB token, the total lock-up volume of the Layer 2 ecosystem has hit a record high. It can be seen from the growth trend of the total pledge amount of Layer 2 that the technical upgrade of Ethereum is a very long-term narrative of Web3 with high certainty. Layer 2's four kings Arbitrum, Optimism, Starknet, Zksync and the rising star Scroll have received most of the market's attention.
However, various capitals and studios are very early in the layout of these star projects, and the dividends shared by ordinary users may be relatively small. If you want to continue to bet on the narrative of Ethereum technology upgrade, ordinary users may wish to focus on some L2 public chains and infrastructure projects that have technology and narrative, and are relatively low in popularity.

01 Mantle: Modular Re-Pledge Chain
Mantle Network is a modular re-staking Rollup Layer 2 scaling solution on Ethereum developed by BitDAO, which provides EVM compatibility.
At present, Mantle has been launched on the public test network, but Mantle’s official introduction specifically mentioned that its governance token is $BIT, which has been issued by BitDAO. In addition, the Mantle document mentions that its DA node incentives are paid by $BIT, so It is very likely that Mantle will not issue new tokens, and it is difficult to reproduce the wealth-creating grand occasion of a wave of airdrops on public chains such as Arb and Apt.
It should be noted that not being able to profit from airdrops does not mean that there are no good opportunities: because of the reasons mentioned above, most people have not paid attention to Mantle and its ecology, but it is precisely this neglected target that Often serious study often has good returns. Moreover, Mantle is a rare modular + Ethereum second-layer concept target in the market, no matter what, it is worth studying in depth.
First of all, Mantle Network is similar to Layer 2 networks such as Arbitrum and Optimism, and is an Optimism Rollup. It provides expansion for the ETH main network, and multiple transactions are bundled together and submitted to Ethereum to store the state, so as to achieve the characteristics of security, fast transactions and low transaction fees.

modular design
General Optimism Rollups rely on Ethereum for data availability, final settlement, and as an execution layer for fraud proofs, where only client-side execution is done off-chain, and all other operations are published and verified on Ethereum.
Mantle's technology stack is characterized by modularity, which means that the core operations of the blockchain: execution, consensus, settlement, and data availability are all performed on dedicated layers. Modularity splitting operations into specialized layers can make the network more efficient, resulting in better overall performance and lower fees.
In addition, modular blockchains can more easily access new technologies, such as consensus mechanisms can be replaced by zk-Rollups or zkEVMs.

decentralized sorter
The sorter has priority or privilege on the L2 chain, and is the only entity that can submit transaction packages to L1, which means a huge advantage. The sequencers of Arbitrum and Optimism are currently running in a centralized manner, and there have been many accidents where sequencer failures caused the chain to stop.

Data Availability
DA is the ability to store and view data committed to the blockchain. The traditional Optimism Rollups mode of operation is to publish and store transactions on L1, which requires a lot of block space (it will be alleviated after Proto Danksharding).
General Optimism Rollups usually have a challenge period of 7-14 days before the transaction can be finalized. For ZKs, which issue validity proofs on L1 and remain verifiable for 30 days before the data is cleared, their transactions have instant certainty, but require a lot of processing power to create proofs when computing.
By using Eigenlayer, Mantle can solve the current L2 long determination period and computing power (generating proofs) problems.
Mantle utilizes re-staking (Re-Staking), L1 validators can choose to use their staked $ETH as collateral to provide data availability services.
Mantle first obtains its security from Ethereum through Rollup. When using the data availability layer built on Eigenlayer, Mantle reuses the security of Ethereum by re-mortgaging ETH, and inherits the security of Ethereum for DA.
To put it simply, after applying DA, Mantle will not publish the data to the ETH main network, but to the EigenDA guaranteed by the re-mortgaged ETH, which can be understood as inheriting a new line that inherits the high degree of decentralization of Ethereum. Chain DA. Doing so can greatly improve throughput and scalability, and allow new types of dapps to be built.

02 EthStorage: Layer 2 storage of Ethereum
EthStorage is a programmable dynamic storage layer 2 solution based on Ethereum data availability.
Most existing L2 solutions, such as Optimism/ZK Rollup, focus on scaling Ethereum's computing power, i.e. higher transactions per second. With the popularity of dApps such as NFT/DeFi/, the demand for storing large amounts of data and reusing the security of the Ethereum main network has also increased dramatically.
The second-tier storage infrastructure is a general direction of the second-tier sector that is ignored by most people. It is the same as the traditional second-tier logic. The original intention is to use the security of the Ethereum mainnet to achieve expansion.

Web3 Storage and Linking
In theory, as long as the content of the website is stored in the Ethereum blockchain, the entire website can be accessed through a browser, so that the website data storage is also decentralized and resistant to censorship. However, the cost of doing so is very high.
For example, 1 GB of on-chain data would cost nearly a million dollars. This is unacceptable for many Web2 applications and even many NFTs. Layer 2 storage solutions can help alleviate some of the cost issues, and the new standard is useful for DApps or websites that may be at risk of censorship.
EthStorage, which focuses on expanding the storage capacity of Ethereum, is an Ethereum L2 that expands programming storage to hundreds of terabytes or even petabytes. EthStorage will greatly reduce the cost of storing large amounts of data on Ethereum, saving the cost to 1% to 0.1% of the original.
EthStorage relies on the Eth network. Compared with existing solutions, it can achieve a more decentralized network with similar operating costs. EthStorage is highly integrated with EVM and compatible with tools such as Solidity, Remix, Hardhat, and MetaMask. Currently the EthStorage team has received a Data Availability Research Grant from the Ethereum Foundation.
Today, most of our users access the Internet through what is widely known as the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP). When an Internet user clicks a link or enters a website address, the computer uses HTTP to request the centralized server to retrieve information, such as a website or an image.
The emergence of EIP-4804 makes it possible to use links to access EthStorage decentralized data
EthStorage proposed EIP-4804/W 3 IP-1 "Web3 URL to EVM Call Message Translation", which translates HTTP-style Web3 URLs into EVM call messages.
Currently, reading data from Web3 mainly relies on the connection of the Web3 proxy to the Web3 blockchain. This translation is mostly done by third-party agents, such as dApp websites/node service providers/etherscan, etc., which are not under the user's control.
The standard aims to provide users with a way to directly access Web3 content without relying on third parties. In addition, the standard makes it interoperable with other standards that are already compatible with URIs, such as SVG.
ERC-4804 will support "data in motion", such as allowing people to leave likes and comments on the site and interact with content. Being a standard native to Ethereum, it also makes it easier to interact with other blockchains.
According to the ERC-4804 specification, Internet users can type "web3://" (instead of "http://") in their browsers to directly open DApps (such as Uniswap or on-chain NFTs). This is because the standard allows users to run queries directly into the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM).
At present, EthStorage has opened the test network, and many big-name protocols have deployed their web pages to the test network. In addition, such as V God’s blog, decentralized dropbox, and dynamic NFT have also launched test network versions.
The number of EthStorage twitter fans has just exceeded 1,000. For a public chain infrastructure project that has received funds from the Ethereum Foundation, it is very early and is worth participating in.
