The supply of the Coinbase-backed stablecoin USDC is rapidly approaching $2 billion on Sept. 11, an 80% increase in two months. Other stablecoins have also seen impressive growth, with DAI and Binance’s stablecoin BUSD up more than 700% so far this year.
According to data collected by Coin Metrics, the total supply of USDC has exceeded $1.8 billion, an increase of more than 80% since the beginning of July and more than 250% since the beginning of 2020. USDC is a centralized dollar-pegged stablecoin issued by the Center Consortium, a partnership between Coinbase and the payment service company Circle. Launched in September 2018, as of early 2020, more than 500 million tokens have been issued.
