The Maker Foundation Launches the First Batch of 13 Maker Improvement Proposals (MIPs)

like
likeThree cornerstones for MakerDAO to achieve complete decentralizationAs described in the article, Maker Improvement Proposals allow community members to propose changes to critical issues with the Maker system. Therefore, the Maker Foundation has drafted an initial MIP to provide a clear, transparent and regulated framework for Maker governance to adjust and evolve the protocol according to future needs and circumstances.
MIP frame (MIP0)
The MIP Framework (MIP0) is the first proposal to define the underlying structure of the Maker governance process for the continued specification, improvement, and maintenance of the Maker protocol in a standardized manner. The MIP framework clarifies the core content and status of various MIPs, various MIP types and life cycles. In addition, the MIP framework provides necessary tools and resources, such as MIP templates, MIP replacement procedures, and supporting documents. Finally, MIP0 details the key roles of the framework—the responsibilities of the MIP Editors and Governance Coordinators, and the process for additions and removals.
MIP0 (Maker Improvement Proposal Framework)
Core base MIP set
The Core Foundation MIP set is the backbone of the long-term governance process, defining key governance structures such as how executive voting is organized. This set of MIPs includes a proposal for a monthly governance cycle, with a longer monthly governance cycle co-existing with the current weekly governance cycle. The monthly governance cycle is an optimization for some decisions to be more effective, and makes the decision-making process easier for the community to digest and understand.

MIP4 (MIP Amendment and Removal Process)
MIP5 (emergency voting system)
Collateral is selected into the MIP set
The collateral selection MIP set defines a complete framework for a scalable collateral selection process that works with governance cycles and existing Domain Teams. Domain teams are made up of people selected by governance with some special authority to oversee key processes and reduce systemic risk.
MIP6 (collateral selection form and forum template)
MIP7 (Enrollment and Deactivation of Collateral Field Panels)
MIP11 (Common Risk Model Management for Collateral Inclusion)
MIP12 (Management of Collateral Risk Parameters)
Note: Each collection will be voted as a whole
The Maker Foundation and community members will continue to improve MIPs, and each MIP will ensure maximum flexibility through governance to meet the future needs and development of the Maker protocol.
Roles involved in MIP
Key roles in the MIP process:
MIP editor: manage and edit the MIP process and framework, the first batch of managers is expected to be selected from the Maker Foundation, and will continue to be open to the community.
MIP Author: Write and propose MIPs
Governance Coordinator: Ensure the smooth operation of the Maker governance process. Responsibilities include daily operations, signal collection, and scheduling governance time.
Community members: Any Maker community member and MKR holder can submit a MIP, and MKR holders have voting rights.

We invite all community members to provide feedback on the 13 initial MIPs above. The Maker Foundation will launch a special governance vote on April 27, and the Maker governance community can:
Approval of the 13 proposed MIPs
Defer approval for a month to allow the community to submit other optional MIP proposals for a period of time.
