European stock markets mostly rose, with defensive sectors seeing capital inflows.
Odaily Planet Daily News Gate data indicates that European stock indices mostly rose in early trading, with the market performing relatively strongly. Strong earnings reports and investors rotating into defensive sectors boosted the Euro Stoxx 600 index, despite ongoing sell-offs led by the semiconductor sector. The UK FTSE 100 index also maintained its upward trend, rising approximately 0.5% intraday, as higher oil prices lifted energy stocks such as Shell and BP. France's CAC 40 index increased by 0.5%, with Kering Group surging 11% after releasing its earnings report, driving the overall luxury goods sector higher. Germany's DAX index rose by 0.3%, where Deutsche Bank saw its share price climb 5.3% after announcing a new stock buyback plan, becoming the main driver of the index's gains. The Netherlands' AEX index edged up by 0.05%; against a backdrop of overall weakness in tech stocks, semiconductor equipment company ASM International fell over 6%, but chemical group IMCD rose by 9%, partially offsetting the drag from the technology sector. Spain's IBEX 35 index fell 0.65%.
