According to Gate market data, South Korea's KOSPI index opened 1.2% higher, with SK Hynix rising 2% following its second-quarter operating profit surge that fell short of expectations; Samsung Electronics rose 3%. Japan's Nikkei 225 index opened 0.18% higher.
