Korean Citizens Question Single-Stock Leveraged ETFs: 63.7% Believe Their Launch is a "Wrong Decision"

According to a survey conducted by Korean polling agency Realmeter on July 22, targeting 504 adults aged 18 and over nationwide, Korean citizens hold a significantly negative view of the launch of single-stock leveraged ETFs. The survey shows that 63.7% of respondents believe introducing single-stock leveraged ETFs is a "wrong decision," with 41.2% considering it "very wrong" and 22.5% considering it "generally wrong." In contrast, 19.0% think the decision was correct, while another 17.4% said they were "unsure."

Regarding the supplementary measures for single-stock leveraged ETFs announced by Korean financial regulators on the 16th, 59.2% of respondents felt they were "insufficient." Among the proposed measures for further improvement, "limiting the number of daily tradable transactions" had the highest support rate at 24.1%, followed by "significantly increasing basic margin requirements" (22.2%), "significantly increasing minimum trading unit requirements" (21.5%), and "expanding mandatory investor education time" (10.6%).
