Google future spending commitments surge to $811 billion, skyrocketing by nearly $500 billion in three months

2026-07-23 14:55

According to Odaily, Google disclosed in a quarterly filing that its future contract spending commitments reached $811 billion as of the end of June, an increase of nearly $500 billion from three months earlier. These amounts, disclosed separately from Google's capital expenditure budget, represent purchases the company has committed to under supply agreements and outstanding purchase orders. Of this total, approximately $200.7 billion is for short-term procurement. These commitments cover various aspects including chips, data centers, electricity, inventory, and content licensing.

This substantial increase highlights how quickly Google is locking in resources as it expands the infrastructure supporting its artificial intelligence business. The disclosure further demonstrates the astonishing scale of AI infrastructure construction. Alphabet, Google's parent company, stated on Wednesday that it expects to invest approximately $195 billion to $205 billion in capital expenditures alone this year, competing with Microsoft, Meta, and Amazon to expand AI computing capabilities.
