Iranian official says U.S. 14-point proposal is "unrealistic," emphasizes negotiations must include "tangible benefits"

2026-05-07 15:46

Odaily Planet Daily News Mohsen Rezaei, a long-time advisor to Iran's late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and former commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, stated that Iran will not allow the United States to reopen the Strait of Hormuz based on "an unrealistic plan" and then withdraw from the conflict "without paying any compensation for all the damage caused to Iran." This statement responds to the 14-point proposal submitted by Washington to Iran through negotiating representatives.

Rezaei emphasized that for negotiations between Iran and the United States to yield satisfactory results, they must include "tangible benefits," not the "hollow gestures" the U.S. is attempting to offer. He said that even if the U.S. withdraws its forces from the region, Iran will still demand its rights and war reparations. Rezaei also stated: "We have endured them for 47 years and will continue on the path of resistance." (Jinshi)
