ZachXBT: US Law Firm "Free Rider Claims" May Hinder Hacker Victims' Fund Recovery and Compensation Process
Odaily Planet Daily News: MegaETH director PaperImperium disclosed on the X platform a filing from the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, showing that a U.S. court has issued an injunction against Arbitrum DAO, prohibiting it from transferring approximately $71 million worth of ETH assets that were previously frozen in the KelpDAO hack incident. In response, "on-chain detective" ZachXBT stated on the X platform that certain U.S. law firms are leveraging his investigative work and on-chain forensic results to help victims of certain hacks file legal claims. However, this practice actually slows down the process for victims to receive compensation or recover funds.
ZachXBT added that in several previous hacking incidents involving the Lazarus Group, such law firms typically intervene only after on-chain fund tracking or freezing is complete, then propose subsequent legal actions with weak connections to the crypto incident itself. They have also adopted similar "free rider claims" strategies in events like Harmony and Bybit. He called on the crypto community to establish a DAO to resist such practices.
