Bitcoin short-term holder whales' unrealized profits hit record $9.07 billion

2026-09-07 19:45

Odaily News: The unrealized profits of the whale group among Bitcoin short-term holders reached $9.07 billion on September 4, setting a new all-time high for this metric since records began in 2016. On September 5, the figure fell back to $7.51 billion, still ranking among the top five levels in the observed period.

Unrealized profits reflect the difference between the current market value of an asset and its on-chain cost basis, and do not indicate that holders have sold or realized profits. Short-term holders typically refer to Bitcoins that have been transferred recently and held for no more than 155 days, with the relevant metrics further focusing on large holders.

On September 7, Bitcoin traded in the $79,300–$79,500 range at one point, reaching an intraday high of $80,537 before slipping below $79,000, putting pressure on immediate support near $79,013. If this level is lost, the next support zone lies at $76,300–$77,000. (Bitcoin.com News)
