消息人士:日本央行倾向于本月加息25个基点,未来加息节奏将保持灵活
The Odaily Planet Daily reported that, according to informed sources, the Bank of Japan is inclined to raise its benchmark interest rate by 25 basis points this month in order to address upside risks to inflation, while maintaining a flexible approach to the pace of future rate hikes in light of economic and price developments. The sources indicated that Bank of Japan officials will discuss the possibility of raising the policy rate and continue to view inflation risks as tilted to the upside. Rising service prices and the sustained weakness of the yen have further strengthened the case for action.
According to the sources, the current development of Japan's economy is generally in line with the Bank of Japan's previous forecasts. As there have been no significant changes in economic conditions that would require a major policy adjustment, the likelihood of a 50-basis-point rate hike is low. One source noted that this has reduced market expectations for a "large-scale rate hike." (Jin Shi)
