Odaily reports that the Reserve Bank of Australia has launched a consultation exploring the role of its information and transfer systems in settlement operations within the tokenized ecosystem. The consultation aims to gather views on how related services could support the development of Australia's tokenized asset markets and private money, while safeguarding financial security, operational efficiency, and financial stability. The consultation deadline is October 30. The Reserve Bank of Australia also noted that a joint report with the Treasury concluded that Australia's retail payment system serves households and businesses well, and that there is currently no sufficient public interest rationale to issue a retail central bank digital currency.
