韩国财长:将密切关注全球债券收益率上升的影响
The South Korean Finance Minister said on Friday that the country will closely monitor its treasury bond market as long-term yields in major economies rise and economic uncertainty intensifies. Speaking at a meeting with financial officials, the minister noted: "Due to increased fiscal spending and uncertainty stemming from the Middle East situation, long-term government bond yields in major economies, including the United States, Japan, and Europe, have risen to multi-decade highs." He stated: "The government will closely monitor the issuance and trading of treasury bonds and strive to lower financing costs for businesses and households."
Additionally, he mentioned that the Korean won against the U.S. dollar fell to 1,300 this week for the first time, after previously dropping to around 1,550 in early July, a move attributed to South Korea's record current account surplus. However, he added that given geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and monetary policies in major economies, the exchange rate faces both positive and negative risks, and "the government will remain vigilant and respond to market volatility."
