Russia Bans Crypto Mining in Moscow and Other Regions Until End of 2032

Odaily News – The Russian Ministry of Energy, pursuant to Government Decree No. 936, has banned cryptocurrency mining and participation in mining pools in Moscow and parts of Kursk Oblast. The ban remains in effect until December 31, 2032.
The year-round restriction is intended to alleviate electricity capacity shortages, as energy-intensive mining facilities continue to put pressure on regional power grids. Russia legalized registered mining in 2024, and has since imposed similar bans in 10 other regions due to rising electricity demand. (CoinDesk)
