According to data from MSX.COM, memory chip concepts in the U.S. stock market weakened, with SanDisk and Micron Technology falling over 6%, and Western Digital and Marvell Technology dropping over 4%. ON Semiconductor fell over 17% after the company announced a $6.2 billion all-stock acquisition of chip design firm Synaptics. The optical communication sector opened lower collectively. Lumentum and Coherent fell over 7%, while Marvell Technology and Credo dropped over 5%, and Corning declined nearly 3%.
